Congratulations to Comrade Les Gislason who was the Arborg Legion #161 2024 Volunteer of the Year. Les was presented with his award by 1st Vice President Lorne Gisalson at the 3rd Annual Volunteer Recognition Gala on March 16th, hosted by the Arborg Bifrost Parks & Recreation Commission. Les was 1 of 6 community volunteers recognized by different organizations. Well deserved Les, Thank You for all you do.
Well Pasta Amore night is now history. Everyone really enjoyed their dinner, which is only made possible with the help of a number of volunteers. Thank you Alice, Danielle, Allan & Gloria for great desserts. A huge Thank You to the kitchen crew: Cathy, Danielle & Sandy. I think we might have it down to a science now!! Looking forward to another dinner - in the future.
Our first dinner for 2024 is planned for February 10th. Celebrate Valentine's Day with a dinner featuring pasta alfredo with broccoli, chicken breast, salad, garlic bread, and, of course, dessert! Tickets on sale now, limited number available, $25.00 each.

Happy New Year! Our Annual Levy Draw takes place on Saturday, January 6th immediately following the Meat Draws and 50/50. This year's amount is a cool $884.00. What a great way to start off 2024. You do not have to be in attendance to win but it would still be nice to see you there.

Our Annual Potluck Dinner is taking place on Friday, December 8th immediately following Meat Draw and Chase the Ace. Bring a dish and enjoy a variety of foods. Don't feel like cooking? A donation of $10 lets you enjoy the feast. Hope to see you all there.
Your 2024 Membership is now available for renewal. We are happy to report there is no increase to the fees. Early Bird (paid on or before November 30th, 2023) $40.00. After December 1st, $45.00. Well, big CONGRATULATIONS are going out today to Audrey Eyolfson who took home $4,303.50 last night for picking the Ace of Spades in the Chase the Ace draw. Audrey rarely misses a Friday night at the Legion so it's nice to see her take the big win. New game starts on June 2nd with the full Jackpot starting at $1,000.00 (yes that is an increase!). We have a WINNER! On Friday, March 4th, Diane Sigvaldason successfully picked the Ace of Spades in our weekly Chase the Ace draw. Diane, who recently become a member of our Legion, took home $3,553.50. Congratulations Diane. Our new game starts on March 11th.

We were sorry to hear of fellow comrade Bert Osborne's passing. Our sympathy is extended to his wife Vera and family. We also mourn the losses of members Robert Jacobson and Shirley Jonasson.

It is with immense sorrow that we acknowledge the recent passing of long time Legion and Board Member, Phil Bauernhuber. Our deepest sympathies are extended to his family.
Remembrance Day Ceremony will take place on November 11th at the Arborg Bifrost Community Centre. Proof of Vaccination will be required to enter the building. Covid protocols will be implemented, including masks. Ceremony starts at 10:30 A.M.
2022 Membership Renewals are now available at our Branch. Early Bird Renewal rate is $40.00 until November 30th (your membership must be current). Prior years are payable at $45.00. New members are always welcome, applications are available online or in person at the Branch. New memberships cost $45.00 for 2022.

Effective September 3rd, 2021, and in keeping with Public Health Orders, Proof of Vaccination is required to enter our facility. Masks are mandatory and all persons must register upon entering.
We are happy to announce the return of Chase the Ace as of Friday, August 13th, 2021. Our weekly 50/50 Draw will also take place every Saturday, commencing August 14th. AND our weekly Meat Draws start Friday, August 20th. We are so excited to welcome you back to our normal activities.

Effective July 17th, our NEW CLUBROOM HOURS will be Tuesday to Thursday 2 - 8 PM, Friday and Saturday 2 - 9 PM. Our VLT machines will be operating as of that date as well, however, at this time we have not been given permission to commence our weekly Chase the Ace and Meat Draws. VLT players must provide proof of full vaccination prior to entering the VLT room. Although there are still some restrictions on table size, and who you can sit with, there is no longer a requirement to order food when alcohol is consumed, however, Lori has done an excellent job of providing a menu that might just tempt you anyway. We are happy to welcome you back.
On Friday, July 2nd at 4 P.M. we will finally OPEN our doors to welcome you back to the Clubroom. There will be no VLTs, Meat Draw or Chase the Ace but there will be a chance to see people in a public setting while you enjoy a meal and beverage. All Covid rules will be in place. Our hours will be Thursday thru Saturday, 4 - 8 P.M. until further notice.
We are extending our deepest sympathies to the family of our long time member Marilyn Schettler who suddenly passed away recently.
Based on the latest Public Health Orders, effective June 26th, our Clubroom is now permitted to open. Lori is working hard to make sure we are clear on what is required before we open our doors. We will be open limited hours however, we will be opening! As of now, there will be no VLT use or Chase the Ace and possibly no Meat Draw. We will keep you posted as to when our opening day will be. It's hard to believe it's been 7 months since we had to close our doors due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Lori has been busy preparing the clubroom for an eventual reopening - when that will be remains to be seen. In the meantime, the picnic tables are on the patio so feel free to use them for an outdoor lunch, or to meet friends & family now permitted under the latest Public Health orders (effective June 12th).
We are saddened to hear of the passing of long time Member, and former employee, Carol Stoyanowski. Her smile and that laugh will certainly be missed.
The Board is pleased to announce the hiring of our new Clubroom Manager. Lori Reed has been employed as a server with our Legion since December 2017 and has now moved into the Manager position. Lori is looking forward to starting her new job in the coming weeks (until restrictions allow us to open our doors her exact start date has yet to be determined). Please join us in welcoming Lori as our new Clubroom Manager.
The Board is sad to announce our Clubroom Manager, Gail Mather, has submitted her resignation. Gail has moved our clubroom business forward and aided in raising the community awareness of the Legion as a venue for meetings and gatherings of various sizes. We wish Gail all the best in her new home in Alberta and with her next venture. Thank you Gail.
We continue to await the news we can open. We are hopeful the next announcement in March will permit us to welcome you back. We are so looking forward to seeing you.
As of February 12, our Branch continues to remain closed due to the current Public Health orders. We are awaiting new announcements in about 3 weeks in hopes we make the list to reopen. The Arborg Legion is a wonderful place to meet friends and family and we hope we will be able to permit this with the next Public Health orders. Continue to practice good hand hygiene and social distancing to ensure you remain healthy and able to join us when we open our doors.
It is inevitable that change and loss will happen. We are deeply saddened to lose another WWII Veteran, Comrade Norm Shaw. Our deepest sympathy goes out to family and friends.

In keeping with the Province of Manitoba new Code Red (Critical) Status, our Branch will close effective Thursday, November 12th until the current restrictions are lifted. We continue to appreciate your support. Anyone wishing to renew their membership may do so by mailing payment to Box 419, Arborg MB R0C 0A0. Your receipt and renewal sticker will be mailed to you. Early Bird Rate of $40 for 2021 renewal is in effect until December 15th. The rate will change to $45 after December 15th.
Remembrance Day Ceremony for 2020 has been CANCELLED with much regret. Wreaths will be placed at the Cenotaph until 1 PM. You are invited to place your Poppy here. Please practice social distancing while visiting the site.

Oh My! We just love to give money away. A mere 6 weeks after our last Chase the Ace winner, Legion Member Sylvia Kindzierski selected the Ace of Spades from 49 cards! Sylvia is a great supporter of our weekly Chase the Ace and Meat Draw events so a big Congratulations to you, Sylvia! This is actually the second time Sylvia successfully picked the Ace of Spades. Lucky girl. New game starts August 21st.
Stop me if you've heard this - WE HAVE A WINNER! On Friday, July 3rd, the Chase the Ace was won by Member Shirley Gislason (she might sound familiar as she also won our Levy draw in January 2020). We are now moving into the next Phase of opening. We are thrilled to announce, effective June 23rd, our new hours are 1 - 9 PM, Tuesday to Thursday, 1 PM - 12 AM Friday and Saturday. There will be access to a limited number of VLT machines. Chase the Ace and Meat Draw events are continuing.
We are pleased to welcome you back to our Clubroom! We will be open starting Tuesday, June 2nd. We will operating on reduced hours to start with. You are welcome from 4 P.M. to 8 P.M., Tuesday to Saturday. There are changes to our capacity both in the clubroom and on our patio, as well as new hand sanitizing procedures for both clients and staff. We will be offering our Meat Draws on both Friday and Saturday nights, as well as Chase the Ace on Friday. Ticket sales will be from a centrally located table. We want to assure you we are working hard to keep everyone safe. Our VLT machines, Dart Boards and Pool Table will not be available until further notice. We look forward to seeing you.
